About Matthew Whitlock

Matthew Whitlock is the Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of Berkshire Residential's Senior Housing platform. In this capacity Mr. Whitlock is responsible for all aspects of the growth and investment in Senior Housing. Prior to joining Berkshire Residential, Mr. Whitlock was Vice Chairman and partner of CBRE National Senior Housing based in San Diego, California. Mr. Whitlock, a 23-year Senior Housing industry veteran, has extensive experience in Acquisitions, Development, Investment Sales and Mortgage Origination. Throughout his career, Mr. Whitlock has been involved in over $17 billion in senior housing acquisitions, dispositions and mortgage financings. Matthew has particular expertise in the origination and execution of both single and multiple property transactions. His debt execution experience (including originations prior to joining CBRE) exceeds $3.5 billion in Senior Housing mortgages through Fannie Mae (DUS certified Lender), Freddie Mac (seller/servicer) and HUD/FHA, and other lending sources. Along with his partners in CBRE Debt and Structured Finance team, Matthew has contributed to CBRE’s ranking as one of the top four lenders in production for both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in each of the last three years. As Senior Vice President and Director of Acquisitions for a nationwide owner and operator of premier Senior Housing communities from 1997-2002, Matthew was responsible for all aspects of the Acquisitions Division, acquiring over 28 communities valued in excess of $2 billion. He has significant experience with tax-exempt bond acquisitions and financing including credit enhancement of both fixed rate and floating rate executions. He and his team members have unparalleled experience in real estate services including investment brokerage, mortgage originations, development project management, real estate consulting, market information, appraisal and financial services.
