About Matthew Witney
As a postdoctoral researcher in immunopeptidomics in the Purcell Lab, I focus on understanding T cell–MHC interactions using mass spectrometry, investigating peptide:MHC-I complexes from biochemical and structural perspectives to better characterize CD8+ T cell responses, and define T cell specificities. During my PhD I developed expertise across both wet and dry lab approaches: employing animal models to study T cell responses, creating cell-free biochemical assays to measure p:MHC-I affinity and stability, and applying structural prediction, molecular dynamics simulations, and statistical modelling to analyze p:MHC-I structures.With a strong conceptual foundation in biology, I am passionate about interpreting the increasingly complex and data-rich landscape of immunological research.
