Background
About Maureen Eberle
Doctoral Student in Neuroscience in the lab of Dr. Rainbo Hultman and NSF Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Iowa in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics. My current research focuses on elucidating the intricate brain network dynamics that underlie migraine and stress susceptibility, and identifying the cellular and molecular contributors to this brain network activity. I utilize multi-site in vivo electrophysiology in conjunction with single-cell RNA sequencing to identify cell types with greatest gene expression variance by network activity, as well as targeted neuromodulatory techniques. With expertise in preclinical models of disease, electrophysiology, machine learning, and single-cell RNA sequencing, I lead studies with the ultimate goal to inform the development of more precise therapeutics for migraine and depression. I am passionate about my research, scientific writing/communication, accessibility to scientific information, community outreach, life-long learning, and developing precision medicine for brain disorders. If you share similar passions or are curious about my work, I’d love to connect!
