About Maureen Hash

I hold a Special Education Instructional Assistant position at Grace Miller Elementary School in Bealeton, Virginia. I am currently working toward a B.S. in Human Services through Old Dominion University and hold a 3.903 g.p.a. I expect to obtain my degree within the next 12 months. I have eleven years of experience working with elementary children of all ages though I currently work with K - 3 students. I have nine years experience working with children with both learning and emotional disabilities. My unique position requires the development of individual curriculum based on students’ individual educational needs while incorporating accommodations required according to their IEPs. I enjoy differentiating among the students as it allows me to use my creative educational ability to ensure mastery of skills. I have also obtained my Autism Spectrum Disorder for Paraprofessionals: Providing Effective Instruction and Supports certification last semester through Virginia Commonwealth University. I am also participating for a second year in our Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) pilot program at Grace Miller Elementary. This requires providing additional emotional and social support to students determined to have significant behavioral difficulties on a daily basis, often several times a day. I have over 20 years of experience in marketing and communications in the corporate and private sector. The skills I have developed have enabled me to effectively communicate and develop marketing tools to benefit my clients’ business needs.
