About Maureen Healey

After stints in Calgary and Vancouver, I'm now located (back) in the Greater Toronto Area. My passion is city building through powerful storytelling, placemaking, community engagement and experiential marketing/events with member-driven organizations. My specialty is working with and for boards of directors and/or staff teams to set KPI targets for communication and operation outcomes and measuring successes. And, I've got the 16+ international/national/local awards to prove it. In my 20+ year career as a communications professional and association manager, I've always been passionate about using tried and true strategic planning. As an accredited communicator (ABC), association management executive (CAE) and leader in place management (LPM) I've got the credentials to back it up. I've been fortunate and agile enough over the years to work across a variety of sectors including finance (Vancity Credit Union), post-secondary education (University of Calgary), urban place management (Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association) and now tourism (Tourism Burlington). One of my superpowers is being an intuitive connector. I thrive on building, exploiting (this is not a negative!), and growing relationships to drive change. I've brought property owners and architects together to create new alleyway public spaces, used relationships with government and members to turn the negative of the 2011 Stanley Cup riot into a positive, engaged more than Vancouverites to create a new vision for downtown, and led a visioning process for an Oakville neighbourhood through the challenges of COVID. Before the pandemic I travelled the world for a year – 24 countries, over 14 months with just one carry-on backpack - yeah, it's a cool story!
