About Maureen McElrone

In my "second life" career I started working as a medical coder, moved to the remote environment and then moved into a Quality Analyst role. I am now a Lead Quality Assurance Analyst with our company. I educate and evaluate Outpatient Auditors and Coders utilizing accuracy measurements in various chart types and disciplines: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Gynolocology, Otolaryngology, Orthopedics, Dental and others. I am certified thru AAPC as a CPC and have coded and audited surgeries, observations, ancillary and ER accounts for hospitals and ASCs. I have also worked on the Inpatient side and am well adept with PCS codes and IP Guidelines and help to manage IP Auditors. My "previous life": I have gained a lot of insight into the minds and functioning abilities of many individuals. The most particular benefit to this has been the acknowledgment of strength in others as well as the ability to recognize the need to individually connect with others intellect, emotions, fears, passions, and creativity. Independent success and self-advocacy have been the foundations of my learning and teaching methods. Recognition that every individual learns by their own specific system of thinking has driven me to gain a greater knowledge base in human behaviors and cognitive functioning but more importantly to understand how to maximize the abilities unique to each person.
