About Mauricio Consalter

I am an internal medicine MD with a Chicago based practice. I founded Medici Healthcare in to provide compassionate, personalized, one-on-one medical care to my patients. I have been certifying patients for the medical cannabis program in Illinois since 2015, and have found cannabis to be a safe and effective alternative and complementary medicine. Nearly all of my patients with a regular cannabis regimen have seen a reduction in the use of opioids and benzodiazepines, driving me to commit my career to helping as many people as possible access this potentially life saving medicine. My main goal is to target the specific strains of cannabis that will most effectively treat these patients’ conditions. I have been a keynote speaker at several health conferences in the Midwest discussing the endocannabinoid system, and I am presently working with the Brazilian congress to facilitate the implementation of a medical cannabis program in their country. I began providing ketamine assisted therapy to my patients in 2020 and am studying the potential benefits of ketamine a the potential for other psychedelic assisted therapies. I graduated from Universidade Catolica Do Parana in Brazil in 1995. I was among the Internal Medicine Residency Chief Residents at the University of Illinois Chicago during my time there. I spent 5 years teaching internal medicine at UIC and was awarded an A.A. Goldsmith award for the most compassionate doctor of the year in I was internationally published in 2010 regarding my work with biopolymers for wound care and wound healing.
