About Maurits Pretorius

With over 27 years of experience in strategy development, strategic transformation, and organisational turnarounds, Maurits Pretorius is a seasoned leader and catalyst for corporate and industry level change. He recently retired as the Chief Strategy Officer at PASA, the Payments Association of South Africa, but continues as Executive Advisor where he supports transitionary and modernisation work related to the National Payments System (NPS) in collaboration with the Reserve Bank and other stakeholders.As a registered organisational psychologist and a practicing strategist, Maurits has a keen interest and expertise in complexity theory, systems thinking, and organisational effectiveness. He has facilitated and supported strategy and change at all levels, from programme and business unit level to organisational and C-suite level and currently also industry level. He has also co-authored a strategy field-book, “Viable Business Strategies”, and published articles on the developments in the South African payments industry. He is passionate about enabling payments innovation and interoperability, and driving strategic change in the financial services sector.
