About Mauro Russo

I am a 48 electronic/software engineer, master graduated with highest grades in electronics at the University of Napoli “Federico II” (Italy) in when I was 24. In 2007, I received Ph.D. in System and Control Engineering (field Operations Research) at the same University (February 2005 – December 2007). Since 2001, I registered to the Engineers Register of Salerno (Italy), with code 4059.I was for nine years football referee (Italian FIGC, 1994-2003) in regional series.My first 15-years work position gave me a very good experience about design, development and maintenance of distributed, hybrid and embedded hardware and software systems, particularly about software and firmware programming in real-time systems.Next, I gained experience as RAMS engineer in SIL 4 safety systems for railway market, based on Cenelec 5012x standards.My current work experience allowed me to go back in C++ world, aligning to modern standard versions, up to C++20. I could also gain ISO 26262 certification for Functional Safety.While the PhD course, I attended to national and international conferences in Operations Research, giving my contribute through talks exposing my original research results, very appreciated.The main work experience is in C/C++ and Object Pascal, but in Java also. Again, I found out compiler bugs, officaly accepted by the related develop team (e.g. C++Builder, IAR Workbench, Delphi, gcc).Recently, I am starting contributing to fix C++ standard through the iso cpp reporting mailing lists.About study and research, I invented a shuffling adder for microprocessor systems. I reached top quality results in Operations Research for the two-dimensional cutting problems: with my co-authors we solved in reasonable time all very large-size and well known instances from literature, never solved before, as well as new harder instances.
