About Max Barber

Max had beginnings and an education in drama & theatre, then extensive training at The London Film School. This led to a career currently spanning 25 years in television making true crime, factual entertainment, specialist factual, documentaries, features and reality TV for a range of UK & global broadcasters including Netflix, BBC, Channel 4, Sky Crime, Sky History, Channel 5, Discovery Networks & National Geographic. The foundations for Max´s work came after his Masters Degree when he went straight in to producing content for the corporate and charity sector. He devised and oversaw the creation of films and campaigns through McKinsey & Company and Cheerful Twentyfirst for clients including Bank of America, Barclays PLC, TalkSport Radio & Norwood Ravenswood, along with other media projects for Together TV (The Community Channel), National Autistics Society & The University of East London. Max is also an award-winning independent filmmaker and has explored subjects as varied as human rights, sexuality, pornography, gender identity and disability through his work in scripted fiction and authored documentaries. His highly topical films have been screened at numerous international film festivals and distributed in the US & Europe through TLA Releasing, REVRY, MTV Logo, CFMDC, Peccadillo Pictures, Channel 4 & Amazon Prime. He works on development and production with Content Kings group, Phoenix Television & is also the Creative Director of Born This Way Media Ltd, a company developing projects for on-screen disabled talent, part of PACT Future 30 & recipient of the Sony Bursary for 2024 Indilab TV Growth Accelerator.
