Background
About Max Britt
I am a classically-trained field economic geologist who is looking to be a member of a collaborative team that utilizes any and every tool available to make discoveries and produce quality data. At present I am finishing a master’s thesis in economic geology at the University of Arizona, I will graduate in May 2023 though my thesis workload allows for time to be spent elsewhere. I received my rigorous training in field geology primarily in the southwestern United States, including several weeks mapping extension-related IOCG mineral systems in west-central Arizona. My experience in traditional geologic mapping includes silicic volcanic terranes, extensional and compressional structural geology and associated sedimentary basin analysis, and detailed mapping of alteration and mineralization features associated with economic mineral deposits, the vast majority of this experience was also performed in the southwestern United States. Additionally, I have experience with analytical work including SEM, EPMA, and LA-ICPMS analysis. Beyond specific analytical and mapping experience, I strive to be a well-rounded geologist who can assist in projects ranging in scope from modern surficial sediments and mass wasting events to complexly-deformed, high-grade metamorphic terranes. I spend most of my free time outside, whether it be hiking, remote camping, or sitting under trees. I also go on a few runs a week in an effort to stay in shape and field-ready. Ideally my future career combines aspects of both field and laboratory geology as they both align with my interests.
