About Max Deryagin

Veteran Russian subtitler working at Plint, vice president at the European federation of national organizations for media translators (AVTE), chairperson of the International Subtitlers' Association (SUBTLE), member of the European Society for Studies in Screen Translation. Throughout my career spanning 15 years, I've collaborated with corporate clients, subtitling agencies, video publishers, broadcasters and universities, and have worked on over videos for TV, Web, SVoD and DVD/Blu-ray, including Oscar-winning films and record-breaking productions. I'm also a co-author of the AVTE Machine Translation Manifesto, co-organizer of Languages & the Media, independent researcher and writer, subtitling tech consultant, registered trainer at ProZ.com, and frequent conference speaker. As an activist, I work toward improving the working conditions of audiovisual translators, help promote the visibility, understanding and status of AVT, and take part in cultivating good subtitling practices in Europe and beyond.
