About Max Griffiths

I am currently the Service Manager for Via New Beginnings, the local authority commissioned, CQC registered drugs and alcohol service in the London Borough of Brent. Overseeing a service of 70 staff members, I have demonstrated the ability to deliver a quality service in an intense and high pressure environment. My main skills include coaching and managing, project management, budget controlling and writing applications and bids for funding. Having originally worked for the National Probation Service managing high-risk service users subject to court orders and prison licenses, I now work in the substance misuse field and have worked for Via for over 9 years. This was originally as a front-line Criminal Justice Practitioner before moving onto supporting with service delivery as a Senior Practitioner in a CQC registered service, overseeing a team working with service users engaged in substance misuse treatment. Prior to becoming a service manager, I managed the Via Capital Card, an innovative and one of a kind reward card scheme for service users, families and carers of Via services. Part of my role involved managing a team to support the smooth running of the Capital Card whilst continuing to be one step ahead when thinking of novel ways to support our service users who often have extremely low socio-economic status. This often involved writing applications for funding opportunities and pitching the scheme to businesses and organisations. I have a passion for fighting against inequality and standing up for those most vulnerable in society. Whilst I have a keen interest in supporting those struggling with substance misuse, I understand the complexities surrounding these individuals and support a holistic approach to improving people’s lives. I particularly thrive in supporting staff reach their potential and enjoy my role as a line manager and completed an ILM Diploma for Leaders and Managers & Level 5 Apprenticeship Qualification, Operations & Departmental Management in 2021. Outside of work I love cycling and watching football, being a fan and previous shareholder of Wrexham AFC. I also have good written and spoken Welsh.
