About Max Hass

Max is a multi-talented attorney with deep experience in entertainment, intellectual property, and business law, and a robust background in the music and film industries. He is licensed in Colorado, Louisiana, and New York (as well several federal courts), and able to provide entertainment and IP counsel to of clients around the country and the world. Max works with musicians, filmmakers, visual artists, writers, and creators of all kinds. His practice now incorporates a substantial amount of plaintiff personal injury trial work, while also continuing to provide counsel on entertainment industry contracts and copyright protection. As a senior attorney at Egenberg Trial Lawyers, Max maintains an active litigation docket while actively working to position the firm as a go-to place for Louisiana creators to turn for reliable and high quality entertainment counsel. Max bolsters his commitment to the creative community by serving on the boards of Court 13 Arts, the Colorado Music Industry Alliance, and Climate Culture. In addition to his law practice, Max has found another calling as an educator. Since 2014, Max has developed and led dozens of workshops for artists, attorneys, and the business community on the subjects of copyright and contract fundamentals in the entertainment industries. These workshops have been held in person in Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, New York, and in webinar form for several international audiences. He has also partnered with several universities to provide guest lectures and special presentations, including UCLA, Tulane, University of Colorado - Denver, University of Denver Business School, Colorado State University, University of New Orleans, University of Northern Colorado, North Carolina Central University, and others. Max remains available and interested in an adjunct position at a college or university. In 2025, Max was honored with Colorado Business Committee for the Arts’ Volunteer Attorney Impact Award, in recognition of his outstanding dedication to pro bono legal service and advocacy for artists. Max's career path in the entertainment industry began as a musician in childhood, which later led to the decision to attend law school and become an advocate for artists. He continues to write, record, and perform with Denver-based groups he co-founded (Half Maxx) and serves as a full member (Danette Hollowell & the Good Guys). During his years in New Orleans, he played with Maggie Belle Band, The Crooked Vines, Noelle Tannen, Toonces, and more.
