About Max Hatfield

Enthusiastic and dedicated student at the Colorado School of Mines pursuing a major in Geological Engineering. I’m focused on Geotechnical Engineering and understanding its intersection in various civil fields. I also enjoy learning about geology and piecing together insights from different disciplines to understand the bigger picture of Earth’s systems. I have been able to participate in the routine inspection of unlined/lined rock tunnels in Colorado and have worked alongside geological and civil engineers and learned how geologic and civil principles come together when evaluating the safety of these structures. I have experience in civil infrastructure inspection, specifically transportation, and have gained an understanding of regulatory requirements from AASHTO/NHI, NBIS and NTIS. A combination of office and field work has provided me with knowledge of how different fields of engineering intersect when evaluating the structural integrity of different structures.
