Background
About Max Kleinman
Max (he/him) is a recent graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law. He has a wide range of interests, including civil litigation, criminal defense, housing, labor, immigration, family, land use, and election law. He is, first and foremost, looking to gain experience as an advocate. Before graduating Magna Cum Laude in May 2025, he served as a staff editor on the Temple International and Comparative Law Journal; as a research assistant to Professor Margaret M. deGuzman, professor of International Criminal Law and, recently, judge on a genocide trial in The Hague; and as a founding board member of Temple Law Students for Justice in Palestine. He also interned in the chambers of the Honorable Chelsey A. Lightsey on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and participated in the Temple Legal Aid Office's Community Lawyering Clinic, as well as the Criminal Litigation Clinic with the Defender Association of Philadelphia. With his written and oral arguments, he has won disability benefits and gotten criminal charges dropped. Before law school, Max spent 13 years in Los Angeles, pursuing a career as an actor, writer, and director, and waiting no small number of tables. This chapter in his life taught him many lessons, including how to tell a compelling story, to work with others to solve creative or strategic disagreements, and to meet a deadline without sacrificing quality. From his time studying and teaching classical improvisation he learned to keep a cool head in even the most stressful situations, to adjust to complications on the fly, and to forge meaningful connections with those around him. Max is a hard worker, a creative thinker, and a supportive team member. He enjoyed his time as an actor, and law school had its charms, but he's ready to get to work.
