About Max Lynam

I’m a lived experience mental health and AOD peer worker passionate about creating safe, empowering, and inclusive spaces for recovery. My work is grounded in my personal experience navigating trauma, family violence, substance use, and the public mental health system — and in my sustained journey of healing, learning, and peer leadership. I’ve supported participants in residential mental health settings (PARC), combining trauma-informed practice, harm minimisation, and recovery-oriented principles. I’ve trained extensively in counselling, trauma care, neurodiversity, somatic therapies, and lived experience leadership, and I’m committed to lifelong growth and collective care. Currently undertaking a Diploma of Counselling, I also bring deep knowledge of polyvagal theory, DBT, EMDR, ADHD/Autism-affirming approaches, and consent-based power dynamics through alternative therapeutic spaces.
