About Max Platt

Hi! My name is Max Platt, a current part-time freshman student at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). Although my major is officially undecided, I am pursuing business classes and plan to ultimately achieve a degree in a business field. Throughout my life, I have had strong inclinations towards mathematics and sciences, specifically, the field of computer science; however, some unexpected turns in my life gave me the opportunity to explore options outside of the fields I was comfortable in, and I developed a passion in sales. In my younger years, when I wasn’t playing competitive tennis, I spent countless hours playing Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games in which there were several in-game currencies, items, and special trinkets I wanted to collect. I loved the idea of trading, bartering, and exchanging items with other players for even a small profit, becoming fascinated with the idea of economics in video games. I finally pursued this passion outside of video games, becoming a sales associate for GolfRoots, a startup golf company based in Dallas. Another large part of my life is competition, though in recent years, due to COVID and college, my trajectory has changed. I started playing competitive tennis at age 10, and ultimately pursued tennis competition until college. Historically, I have always balanced sports and academics, which has given me a great foundation to learn time management. I hope to continue to grow throughout my time at UTD, and am very excited to apply my learning into my own work office. My primary work experience involves data entry, sales, and management.
