About Max Ralph

Across various mediums, I've covered nearly every sport at Penn State over the past four years. I started with baseball after joining The Daily Collegian before working my way up to cover Penn State football in my sophomore year. After leaving the Collegian, I continued covering football and basketball in a freelance capacity with AllPennState on Sports Illustrated's FanNation Network and the Philadelphia Inquirer. In between my school years, I spent a summer interning with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and have worked with the Associated Press covering the FIFA Women's World Cup in New Zealand and the Little League World Series. That all brought me to my current position with PennLive, where I'm proud to keep growing on the beat that gave me my start — only now in a full-time manner. With Penn State's CommRadio and the school's branch of Big Ten+, I have provided play-by-play broadcasting of baseball, football, basketball, hockey and soccer. I have a special interest in baseball since attempting to focus on broadcasting beginning in my junior year. I picked up a camera for an introductory class junior year, hoping to expanding my skills as a multimedia journalist. I am confident using a camera now, allowing me to create a full-length photo story and help with an award-winning sports short documentary. Through classes, I have also completed TV sports and news packages. Finally, I have served as a public address announcer at Penn State athletics events. I'm extremely comfortable writing or using my voice in public settings or on camera.
