About Max Read

Through high school I did some volunteering at a local aged care facility which I found highly rewarding. Aside from the joy of being able to give back to the community, it helped refine my communication skills. I was also doing basic IT support for some of the residents which gave me some preliminary troubleshooting experience. I subsequently worked as a self-employed English Tutor which helped me refine valuable communication skills while also being able to assist students in their work. This put me in good stead for my current role as a computer technician owing to the need to clearly and effectively communicate with customers about the work I am doing on their computers and devices. Working as a computer technician has also allowed me to refine troubleshooting skills and improve my general problem solving skills, which I consider a crucial characteristic in any software engineering or IT related role. It's also provided me with a more in-depth look at a variety of systems and software that will always be useful for personal use as well as in the future for my career. It has also allowed me to further refine communication skills in a different way to previous roles, showing me how to alter explanations and communications based on the level of understanding each customer has. It has overall been a highly rewarding experience which has provided me plenty of skills so far that will prove highly useful for the future.
