Having recently finished my traineeship, I took up a position as an Associate Software Engineer in the Payments Domain of Deutsche Bank. I now get to work on a central piece of software which facilitates transactions for many of our corporate clients. I got to where I am in a somewhat unusual way. During my degree in economics and political science I decided to learn programming (R and Python) on the side. It took some time but after my first major project (Klausur-inator) was finished, I was hooked. It was a simple web app built using Python to find the easiest exams at my University, but it showed me the opportunities that programming offers.
