Background
About Maxime Forest
I am both an academic and a senior expert in policy analysis and gender equality with a 15 years long experience of applied research in the fields of social sciences, and public policy design, implementation and evaluation. Interested in gendering policies, notably in the fields of research and innovation, I have been increasingly involved in projects bringing together social sciences, design and visual arts. As an academic, I have been a Senior Researcher and Lecturer since 2013 at Sciences Po Paris where I am currently research associate. My primary affiliation is at OFCE, but I am also affiliated to Sciences Po PSIA and Urban School as a lecturer and supervisor. From 2014 to 2017, I have been the scientific supervisor of the EU-funded EGERA project. From 2018 to 2022, I have been the principal evaluator of the SUPERA project, and the Principal evaluator of RESET from 2021 to 2025. As of June 2025, I was preparing new EU project applications in the fields of heritage and gender. In January, 2013 and January, 2016, I have been appointed by decree an Executive Member of the French High Gender Equality Council, attached to Prime Minister's services. I have been serving two terms until February, 2019, covering issues such as gender & development, gender & asylum and representing the Council at the Advisory Committee of the European Commission on Gender. As a consultant, I am involved in designing, implementing and independently evaluating gender equality action plans and gender training instruments for private and public organizations, and managing projects related to social innovation and policy change. I regularly provide expertise to the European Commission, the European Institute for Gender Equality and the Council of Europe. More recently (2021-2025), I have been commissioned research assignments by the French Development Agency in the fields of Climate action, Gender & Urban and Environmental Commons, and Intersectionality in international development. In 2016, I co-founded Kolektiv Cité Radieuse, a Curatorial and Research group devoted to modern architecture and contemporary design, as vehicles to tackle contemporary urban and social challenges. Established at Unesco World Heritage Le Corbusier's Unité d'Habitation in Marseille, Kolektiv Cité Radieuse organised dozens of exhibitions, residences and conferences in France and Europe, and has been featured in major international outlets such as the NYT, the Financial Times, Le Monde or El Pais and dozens of specialised design & architecture journals.
