About Maximus Ross

I am a Masters Student at Case Western Reserve University, studying Aerospace Engineering. I am interested in an Aerospace Engineering internship for the Summer 2023 term, as well as open to full-time positions after May 2023. I graduated from Case Western Reserve University in May 2022 with a Bachelors of Science in Engineering, with a major in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Political Science. My Masters work primarily focuses on researching transient conditions in solid and hybrid rocket motors using computational fluid dynamics software. I plan on using real motor testing to create a comparison data set to analyze the accuracy of theoretical models used in the design of these motors. I am a long-time member of the Case Rocket Team, including leading the team to compete in the 2022 Spaceport America Cup as the Project Manager. The team competed in the ft COTS competition, using a commercial rocket motor to get as close as possible to a ft altitude. I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at CWRU. During the Spring 2022 semester, I worked as a TA for the Fluid Dynamics course, where I created and graded weekly quizzes based on introductory fluid dynamics topics. For the Fall 2023 semester, I will be the TA for the Design of Fluid and Thermal Elements course, where I will assist in the grading of projects during the course of the semester involving design of fluid and thermal systems. I worked for one year as a Student Lead Technician at the Sears think[Box], CWRU's student maker-space, where I worked in the Fabrication department, which includes a metal shop, wood shop, weld shop, and waterjet. I additionally worked for two years as a Student Technician in the Prototyping department, overseeing the use and maintenance of FDM and Polyjet 3D printers, laser cutters, as well as other equipment. Previously, I also interned for Glenair, Inc. in the Hermetics Department, working on part design and modeling projects for hermetic connects for use in aerospace and defense applications, during the summer of 2019. This primarily consisted of reading MIL-SPEC documents and modifying existing part designs to accommodate new standards and create new variants.
