About Maxine Nork

As an English teacher at Clark County School District (CCSD) for over 13 years, I have taught various classes and levels of students, from 7th grade reading to 8th grade remedial English. I have also worked with district partners to develop and implement curriculum that was used district wide, and most recently, to roll out Project Based Learning (PBL) at my school site. PBL is an innovative and engaging pedagogy that allows students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problems and projects. My teaching career is built on a solid foundation of diverse and relevant experiences, both professional and personal. Before becoming a full-time teacher, I was a substitute teacher, a PTA board member, a business owner, a restaurant and retail manager, an office temporary, and a marketing assistant. These roles have given me a unique perspective and a wide range of skills, such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and creativity. I have also earned a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education and Teaching, and two Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Language and Literature and Political Science. My mission is to create a positive and supportive learning environment where everyone can succeed and grow. I have high expectations for myself and my students, and I strive to achieve results without losing sight of the big picture.
