About Maxine Wong

I was called to the Singapore Bar and admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2020. I pursued a career in lawyering as I believed that it is not only a platform to serve people to bring about justice, but also a means to position myself to effect change through helping to shape the legal and political framework in place. I hope that during the course of my career, I would be able to serve my community by assisting in the administration of justice in a fair and efficient manner and upholding the rule of law. Aside to that, I have a particular interest in Public International Law, especially in the area of human rights, as well as an interest in international criminal matters. As such, my goal is to one day advance my career towards a more international stage, especially in the area of human rights law as I have. It is an aspiration of mine to eventually start up my own international non-profit organisation. Together with working with different governments and using the collective action from a local community to effect change at the national, regional or international level, I hope to be able to use my organisation as a platform to be a social justice advocate for marginalised people. Whilst I work towards that goal, I am currently honing my skills as a lawyer. Ever since my days as a trainee lawyer, I have always had a passion for community work. I volunteer pro bono with a legal clinic, LAB and CLAS. I am growing my areas specialisation especially in criminal and civil litigation, family and employment law. Outside of lawyering, I also enjoy culture and the arts, theatre & film, doing outdoor sports and being around nature by taking long walks and hikes.
