About Maxwell Steven

I am an Aquatic Ecologist specialising in fish ecology with prior expertise in marine megafauna research. My 2023 honours research:My time was spent researching the bone development and anatomy of crocodiles and their relatives. This research was then used to write a scientific manuscript which was submitted as my honours thesis within the University of Queensland. This was completed full-time from January to October under the supervision of Associate Professor Steve Salisbury. Some of many skills gained during this research include 3D analysis with 3 different computer programs (Materialise Mimics, Materalise 3-Matic, Meshlab), sorting through museum collections, developing an encompassing understanding of crocodylian evolution and anatomy through time. Unexpectedly, many skills in organising the logistics of scientific research were also gained. My previous studies and professional experience:Whilst completing my Bachelor of Science with a major in marine biology (2020-2022), I worked multiple jobs in luxury, with world-renown brands, often personally securing high value sales in the tens of thousands ($). However, the beginning of 2023 saw my marked pivot towards a full engagement in the professional and voluntary scientific world. Despite this pivot, the vast range of interpersonal skills and professionalism within five and half years in an intense luxury environment, have easily been migrated over to the scientific workplace, something I am very pleased about.Achievements: Half-Ironman 5th place finisher, 3rd place Sprint triathlon finisher, Investor.
