Background

About Maya Kumar

An academic with the goal of contributing the theory and practice of entrepreneurship and innovation - I have lived on three continents in six countries and hold a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and General Management from Ivey Business School, Western University. I also hold an MBA from City University of Hong Kong, an MSc from Tufts University, and a BSc from the University of Waterloo. I have passion and experience teaching and mentoring students in business and multidisciplinary programs in Entrepreneurship, Strategy, and International Business at the Bachelors and Masters levels, and have coached hundreds of entrepreneurs on their startups. Prior to re-joining academia, I worked in the biotechnology, logistics, and banking sectors, and continue to be engaged with my local entrepreneurial ecosystems. My research interests lie at the intersection of entrepreneurship and innovation management, where I currently focus on the role of early customers in the innovative tech startups’ new venture creation process, GenAI in the entrepreneurial process, humility in entrepreneurial learning, and entrepreneurship pedagogy.
