About Maya Ravindran

I am a Solicitor Advocate and have acted on behalf of the full spectrum of NHS Trusts, private healthcare organisations and individual clinicians at Inquests involving complex medical issues and at jury Inquests where a patient is detained under the Mental Health Act or in a custodial setting. I often deal with very sensitive cases which attract media attention. I have worked closely with NHS Trusts and healthcare providers at governance level to learn from deaths and to mitigate against risks and reputational damage so as to provide the best possible outcome at Inquest. I have previously spent time seconded to an ambulance service NHS Trust, an acute hospital NHS Trust and a mental health NHS Trust. I have provided training to clinicians through workshops, mock inquests and seminars. Prior to specialising in healthcare, I worked as a criminal defence solicitor and in this time attained recognised accreditations for representing clients at the police station at interviews under caution and at the Magistrates’ Court. I also prosecuted on behalf of the Health & Safety Executive and have extensive experience in representing companies and individuals across a range of industries being investigated for and charged with health and safety offences that have usually resulted in a fatality.
