About Mayra Rivas

One of my significant interests is global education. I have studied in Ecuador, the US, and France, interned in Germany, and conducted research in Ecuador and Guatemala. • I help universities facilitate student mobility. In this way, international students obtain enrichment, which they can only obtain through immersion in and cross-pollination with a different culture. I have served as a liaison between universities from Latin America and Europe and the University of Florida for cooperative agreements and exchange programs. • I also help organizations measure the impact of programs for education, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development in developing countries. I have worked on impact evaluations for programs implemented in Ecuador and Guatemala with funding from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB.) I love to travel abroad with faculty and students to visit universities, research institutes, agri-business, etc. I am an excellent academic trip organizer (I've been told!) • My experience visiting international academic organizations for over ten years has familiarized me with their operations. This has helped me in my role as a mentor to students, in assisting with the formation of cooperative agreements, and in my leadership capacity while directing academic groups. I now have experience guiding students through choosing the right international student exchange program. Additionally, I have received international delegations here in the US at the University of Florida. To Your Prosperity, Mayra
