About Mayur Parmar
I am a passionate medical educator and researcher with expertise in pharmacology, physiology, and neuroscience. As an Associate Professor in the Department of Foundational Sciences at Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, I teach and mentor medical students. My research focuses on understanding the pathological mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and developing therapeutic interventions to halt their progression. I hold a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology and have conducted research at the Appel Alzheimer’s Disease Research Institute at Weill Cornell Medical College and as a postdoctoral associate at the University of Florida. I am currently interested in evaluating newly synthesized medicinal agents for their ability to prevent tau and synuclein aggregation, thereby preventing neurodegenerative diseases. In addition to my research, I have served as a reviewer for the National Science Foundation and various peer-reviewed journals.
