About McKenna Murphy

I have been humbled by the experiences I have had as a pharmacist during my PGY-1 pharmacy residency. At Unity Hospital, I have been given the opportunity to rotate through the Emergency Department, Internal Medicine floors, Surgical services, Central pharmacy, and IV room thus far. Throughout these experiences, I have been able to provide excellent patient care by participating as a member of the interdisciplinary hospital teams. I have also been given the chance to work with, and adapt to a variety of personality types both within and outside of the pharmacy department. Additionally, I will be rotating through bot the Intensive Care Unit and Ambulatory Infusion Center where I hope to gain further experiences that strengthen both my clinical and patient evaluation skills. Of all of the experiences that I have had during my PGY-1, the most memorable have been direct patient interactions. To me, a successful work day included not only making critical interventions, but also providing positive patient experiences. For example, if throughout the day I was able to make a patient laugh during a discharge counseling session or alleviate any stressors they may have had about their medication regimen, I deemed it a successful work day.
