About McKenna Wendt

Hello there! As a recent graduate with a biochemistry degree, I am excited to bring my knowledge to a new position. I began my journey as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in the fall of 2017, which is where I initially discovered my passion for caring for others. My experience expands from long-term assisted care to working on the medical-surgical floor in a hospital. Along with working as a CNA, I have also gained invaluable experience working alongside scientists in the lab. I began my science career in 2018 as an undergraduate research assistant in an organic chemistry lab. After acquiring 2 years of experience, I decided to expand my knowledge and joined a medicinal chemistry lab to obtain additional lab techniques and skills. These skills ranged from synthesizing compounds in the chemistry lab to acquiring biological samples for further testing in the immunology lab. This unique combination of experience helps me improve patient care through research and evidence-based practice. Although I can typically be found on the hospital floor, I do utilize my days off for taking care of myself. These days typically consist of cooking or baking new recipes along with settling down with a good book. Both of these hobbies help me unwind and teach me how to be patient and pay attention to detail. I find that these practices help me provide better patient care.
