About McKenzie Layne

I am currently working for AppHarvest, a new company that is reinventing Agriculture. We harvest our delicious Beefsteak, tomatoes on the vine, and snacking tomatoes. In my job I assist in the actions and performances of canceling out pests and diseases using biological insects, robot sprayers and manual removal. Before being employed at AppHarvest, I have worked along side professors to conduct research using supplementation of a hydrolyzed yeast product. Doing so help us determine if it would alleviate some symptoms of fescue toxicosis in mature cows. This research involved data entry and weekly collections of cattle weights, bolus ID temperatures, fescue samples, forage samples, and observation time frames. I also have worked as a Student Farmhand at the Morehead State University Farm. This job included feeding animals at morning and evening times everyday, assisting with applications of medications on livestock, and weekly farm chores like cleaning stalls and weed eating. I have had 4 years of hands on experience at the University Farm during course labs required for my majors, this experience also included working in the greenhouse and the Browning Orchard.
