I recently completed my PhD at Columbia University, where I studied the role of overuse and inflammation in tendon injury. Using an in vitro model system, I characterized gene and protein level responses to mechanical and immunological stimuli, and identified key pathways using NGS. To investigate mechanotransduction responses, I applied cyclical tensile strain to cell-seeded scaffolds using multiple bioreactor systems. To identify key questions related to immunology of tendon, I performed experiments where I inhibited various pro-inflammatory pathways and assessed their effectiveness via ELISA, Western Blot, RT-qPCR, and immunostaining.
