Background
About McLean Trott
I'm an exploration geologist who digs (pardon the pun) into geochemistry and data science on a regular basis. I've worked as a geologist since 2005, in a variety of commodities, although the majority of my career has revolved around porphyry copper exploration on the Pacific coast of the Americas, from BC southward to Chile, with stops in Mexico, Panama, and Peru along the way. At present I am working at the intersection of data science and mineral exploration, as well as furthering my education with a Ph.D at Queen's on the same subject. I'd like to see the exploration industry perform better by leveraging data and making the kinds of discoveries that will be needed by humanity to deal with the electrification of the world. Mineral resources are important, and we collectively need to find more of them.
