About Meaghan Dalferro

Having worked in the field of Special Education for over a decade, I am returning to my first passion: literacy education, especially for children with dyslexia. Via the Children's Dyslexia Center's IMSLE-training, which incorporates Orton-Gillingham methods and Structured Language education, I will become certified as a Dyslexia Practitioner-1 (expected April 2024). My current IMSLE training updates what I learned in my Reading Specialist graduate program, where I learned how to diagnostically assess students' strengths and areas of need and design targeted intervention to advance their reading and writing skills. The CDC's rigorous program adds to that experience with the most current research and evidence-based literacy teaching methodologies. Using diagnostic teaching in junction with systematic, structured instruction and Orton-Gillingham methods, I see students making dramatic gains in their literacy skills over the 8 months I have worked with them. As an avid, lifelong reader and writer, I am invigorated by the prospect of bringing the joy of reading and writing to many more students in the future.
