About Meena Ejjada

I am an avid learner, non-conformist, and optimistic person willing to go the extra mile to find happiness and purpose in everything I do. Fitness enthusiastic who love to spend the most time in nature by exploring new places, enjoy meaningful & intellectual conversations, and often seek adventure in life. Final year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Environmental Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has years of experience as an Environmental Engineering Researcher intensively exploring and contributing new ideas to the water industry by resolving water scarcity issues and providing safe water for irrigation. My goal is to see an environment where everyone in a community can access clean water and safe food, ultimately contributing to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since joining UNLV, I have worked independently and collaboratively on various projects related to water reclamation, wastewater technologies, drinking water quality, and its treatments. These projects have included investigations into emerging contaminants (DBPs, PFAS) analysis and treatment, adsorption of heavy metals, DBPs, methylene blue, and cyanotoxins using biochar and GACs, chemical uptake by plants, and advanced oxidation processes. Currently, my research focuses on emerging contaminants like disinfection byproducts and their uptake in plants grown using reclaimed waters. Since joining UNLV, I have worked on several projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
