About Meg Gorzycki

I understand and value education as information, formation, and transformation. I recognize that the stakeholders are wide in scope, including future generations, the environment, the poor and vulnerable, and those across the globe. My professional goal is to improve the quality of teaching and learning as a teacher, consultant, researcher, and writer. The questions of who should have access to education and what should be taught are as important as matters of assessment, accountability, and quality. What can be measured ought to be measured; what can only be qualified must remain a vital part of the conversation about best practice. In my role as a teacher and consultant, I encourage others to become aware of and to test their assumptions, think deeply about the implications of their work, and study the outcomes of their work with a critical eye to improvement. I invite others to recognize the relationship between excellent teaching and current neurological research and the institutional policies that impact the quality of teaching and learning. My research interests include the history of education, the neurology of learning, critical thinking, curriculum design, instruction, and literacy. I taught for one semester at the University of Rostov in Russia and taught nine workshops to faculty from six universities at a special institute at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It has been a great honor to work with international educators abroad and those who visit San Francisco.
