About Megan Davidson

Hi, I’m Megan Davidson (she/her) — a PhD researcher at the University of Manchester and an incoming President’s Doctoral Scholar. My work sits at the intersection of criminology, data, and design. I'm exploring how nature access affects self-harm and suicide rates among incarcerated women in Canada, England, and Wales, using a mixed-method approach that combines geospatial mapping with in-depth interviews. My research is grounded in critical feminist criminology and aims to challenge how we think about prisons, care, and space. Previously, I served as Interim Lead and now advise for the Centre for Social Impact Technology, where I apply systems thinking and multidisciplinary research to ethical questions in public interest tech and carceral design. I’ve also contributed to projects on cultic social media behaviours, Indigenous parole inequities, and the built environments of incarceration. Outside of research, I’m a Red Seal-certified baker, a community volunteer, and a passionate advocate for inclusive, grounded change. I’m a former Top 30 Under 30 recipient, with a background that spans frontline service, academic leadership, and creative problem solving. Always open to connecting with others working in criminology, feminist research, ethical tech, carceral reform, or anyone curious about building more humane systems. Let’s talk.
