Background
About Megan Davis
To sonder is my obsession and my raison d’être. I discovered this word and found the definition I never knew I needed.Sonder:The realisation that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. Populated with their own ambitions, routines, worries, friends and inherited craziness. An epic story unfolding invisibly around you.A definitive childhood memory was sitting on the edge of a bridge with my Grandpa. We were looking at the expanse of a great city below us. I was so overwhelmed, all I could say was, “Look at all of the lights!”It wasn’t the lights that fascinated me. It was the knowledge that behind all of those shining windows, zooming cars and bustling businesses, there were millions of stories brushing up against each other every day. That fascination became a business.I founded Spendlove and Lamb to help organisations harness the power of story in ways that are structured, strategic and deeply human.I design storytelling challenges, develop narratives and run storytelling training that helps people find the real stories sitting inside their teams, communities, events and organisations.Because one story on its own is powerful. An ongoing body of stories creates momentum. My storytelling challenges are designed to gather stories in a way that invites participation, creates connection and reveals the bigger picture. They are a powerful alternative to dry engagement processes because they do more than collect responses. They help surface sentiment, themes, lived experience and the connective tissue of a bigger narrative. These challenges can be used for:• employee engagement• conference and event engagement• learning and development• culture change projects• community engagement and consultation• internal communications• customer and member engagement• innovation and future-focused work• campaign development• knowledge sharing across teamsAlongside storytelling challenges, I work with clients on narrative development. I help organisations find the unifying message that holds their stories together and turns them into something people can actually remember, repeat and act on.I also train people in storytelling, from business storytelling and strategic communications through to story discovery, message development and using story to create a stronger audience connection. My work is for people and organisations daring to create a new world, and needing the clarity, participation, and shared meaning to bring others with them. This isn’t once upon a time. This is the story that creates your time.
