About Megan Doody

It is my goal as a teacher to help every child feel empowered to be the best they can be and strive to succeed in whatever they choose to do in life. After getting into special education, my goal shifted to a mindset of helping the parents of the students I teach as well. Advocating for their child, teaching parents strategies and behavior interventions and highlighting for them the strengths of their child has been so fulfilling. In my role I am case manager for my students so I collaborate with parents to create an IEP that best meets the needs of the student. I collaborate with my team of colleagues on best strategies, goals and interventions to include. Day to day in my classroom I am managing and intervening with behaviors, developing behavior intervention plans with the social worker, implementing speech and occupational therapy strategies with my students, using modeling & repeated practice to work on IEP goals, accommodating general education curriculum materials for my students, teaching whole group, small group and 1:1 based on academic goals utilizing core boards, PECS or Touch Chat for output and managing/guiding my team of paraprofessionals.
