About Megan King

Megan King graduated (Spring 2023) from the Remotely Operated Vehicles Technician Diploma and Underwater Vehicles Diploma of Technology programs at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland. Megan was recognized for her academic achievements at the Marine Institute with three distinguished awards, including the Governor General’s Academic Medal at the Collegiate Bronze post-secondary diploma level. Currently, she is working towards her Bachelor of Technology (Engineering Technology and Applied Science) from the Marine Institute. Furthermore, Megan is an alumnus of the Students On Ice program (Summer 2022) and the Colleges and Institutes of Canada Global Skills Opportunity program (Fall 2022). Moreover, she was honoured to speak as a “Workforce of the Future” panellist at the inaugural Canadian Women In Ocean Industries Leadership Conference (Spring 2023). Additionally, Megan has worked previously as a competitive gymnastics coach with Cygnus Gymnastics Training Centre, a student assistant with the School of Ocean Technology and the Registrar’s Office of the Marine Institute, and as a co-op robotics and computer science intern with the Wood Robotics Group in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. While working with the Wood Robotics Group to execute an offshore autonomous robotic inspection pilot project (Summer 2022), Megan became the first autonomous robotics pilot on an offshore production platform in Canada (Hibernia). Finally, from Spring 2023 to Fall 2023, Megan worked as a Junior ROV Technician working offshore with Oceaneering Canada Limited in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. As of January 2024, Megan works internationally as an ROV Pilot Technician (Grade I) with Subsea 7.
