About Megan Rivard

Schools are not just institutions. Schools are living parts of the communities around them. Through place-based education (PBE), a framework that makes learning more relevant and engaging, the relationship between school and community is offered a way to heal. To reconnect. To remind us that we belong to each other, and to the land. Schools can be centers of transformation for entire communities - at least, that's the belief that guided me through a master’s degree focused on PBE and systems change. It led me on a path where I collaborated with educators, administrators, and community members to reimagine what learning could look like when deeply connected to local and lived experiences.I believe the stories of innovative educators, especially when woven together with the stories of the places they teach in, hold the potential to inspire real change. I continue to seek out the places where schools and communities are working in reciprocity. Those stories fill me with hope.If you're passionate about education, community, or simply reimagining how we care for one another and this planet, I’d love to connect.
