About Megan Rivera

In February 2023, I took on the role of Director of the LA Sports Concil's exceptional community outreach program: Ready, Set, Gold! RSG! is a comprehensive initiative focused on community health, fitness, and social and emotional learning (SEL). RSG! Believes that access to physical fitness is a human right and everyone deserves to have access to the gift of movement. Because of this, RSG! Athlete mentors strive to give students the opportunity to be their best selves by delivering lessons they learned through their sport that students may not otherwise receive anywhere else. Our team of 65 Olympians and Paralympians deliver in-person and Virtual Series programming to 130+ schools nationwide and 30 LA area schools. RSG! serves over students. Notably, 84% of the schools benefiting from RSG! are Title 1 institutions, serving students disproportionately affected by health and wellness challenges. In 2018 I completed my California teaching credential in secondary social studies/history. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Teaching from USC, which I earned in 2013. In 2015, while working for the LA Kings, I co-founded the LA Lions, a girls hockey program that operates out of Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo. They are the sister program to the LA Jr. Kings and are one of the biggest girls programs in Southern California. I was the club president from its inception in 2015 until 2017. I am a USA Hockey certified Level 4 coach with 10 years of experience coaching 8u to 19u, my specialty being high school level teams. I have utilized my knowledge of NCAA and ACHA sports, college hockey recruiting rules and middle/high school teaching to best connect with these student-athletes and lead them to their ultimate goal of attending college and potentially playing hockey. I designed practice plans, off ice training regimens and post workout/game recovery plans. I also assisted players with their college applications including providing guidance on essay writing and communication with the school. From 2012-2017, I worked for the Los Angeles Kings in the Hockey Development department as an Event Account Executive. I oversaw all hockey events, camps and clinics put on by the organization. I was responsible for all marketing and sales collateral and took the lead on marketing these events to the Kings' database. It was also my responsibility to execute these events and to create and maintain positive relationships with clients participating. While at Boston College, I played on the Women's Varsity Ice Hockey Team from 2006-2009.
