About Megan Ryley

I am currently a student at Nottingham Trent University studying history as a single honour. I love to read, particularly fiction and as of right now I am reading Jane Austen's Emma. My dream job would be to work in a publishing house as an editor for fiction novels. Alongside this, I often delve into the history of the monarchy and many wars, predominantly in the medieval period. Additionally, I am very passionate about the political climate, I closely follow the changes happening in many governments around the world, but primarily that of my own country. I currently work at John Lewis as a Sales Assistant. I spend most of my time in the furniture and beds department and I have been selected as 1 of 5 in our store to spearhead a trial for sleep consultations based on my specialist knowledge in the area. I love my job as I get to share my knowledge with many different kinds of people but also aid them in refreshing their love for their home or reworking their relationship with sleep. In terms of work experience, I am still adding to my repertoire but have previously worked in Greens Mill and Science Centre in order to begin my journey of development. Their ethos, of sharing and preserving local history pushed me to earn an appreciation for local history and I learned even more the inherent value of community ties. It also allowed me to see a different side to history, one that I don't usually engage with.
