About Megan Willman

I started out always knowing I wanted to be in the mental health field in some capacity. I have an ultimate goal to open a Rape and Sexual Abuse Center, but before that I want to experience every avenue that would help me run a successful business. I have worked in medical and mental health claims and benefits through a larger nonprofit insurance company working on the provider end, I have done direct care services with both children and adults, and most recently I worked at a crisis line with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. I also have my 40-hour Sexual Assault Advocacy training/certificate completed. While I worked at the crisis line, I also supervised 15 individuals on a 1:1 and team basis and helped with overseeing the day to day operations. Part of my role was digging deeper into human trafficking work as 12 hours out of my week was allocated to Safe Harbor- a law put in place to decriminalize victims of sex trafficking. I am very interested in program management, policies and procedure, and regulations. I am currently getting my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Trauma and Crisis. When I finish, I hope to get back into direct care services and expand my knowledge of therapeutic relationships. I intend to eventually go back for my PhD or PsyD and research revictimization and adverse childhood experiences (ACES) to see if I can put a dent into why victim/survivors have a 50-70% increased likelihood to experience sexual trauma again after they experienced it as a child. Finally, I will mention my capacity and my desire to never stop learning. You can find me signing up for every webinar/training related to my interests/job, never wanting to stop my education (in reality I want about 5 more degrees), and being curious and learning about things even if they don’t apply to me.
