Professional experience: Cumulative Scientific breadth:* Public health nutrition: Communications & Ayurveda Dietetics. Running courses and leveraging traditional medicine for malnutrition.* Drosophila nutrition, genetics and physiology particularly in the context of investigating neuropeptides.* Type secretion system of intracellular pathogens (Salmonella)* Evaluation of lipid properties in bilayers using Fluorescence spectroscopy (PhD) Management:* Leading and managing the Grants Team.(India Alliance; IA)* Trained at the Wellcome Trust, UK. Set up the IA offices and built the grants processes.* Innovating and implementing programmes that would enable biomedical scientists to fulfill their potential in India. esp Science and Communication workshops.* Co-led on formation of Postdoc Fellows Association at NCBS and organising the first PDFA meeting. Teaching experience:* 4 credit PG course in Biochemistry. Enjoy blending activity based learning for students. Lecture plans includes scientific communication both verbal and written, as well as critical thinking and using games to help retain concepts.* Put together the Ayurveda Dietetics program at TDU that aims to introduce authentic Ayurveda information in the light of contemporary nutrition and dietetics. I coordinate the program and teach the contemporary portions. The Ayurveda portion is taught by Dr Madhumitha Krishanan, Dr Girish Kumar and Dr Subrahmanya Kumar. I have designed the course and manage it end-to-end.* Initiated and led a program to teach undergraduates from local Bangalore colleges in advanced biology at NCBS.* mentored students for dissertation projects. Volunteering experience * Volunteer with Asha for Education. Previously, fund-raising via marathon programs. From 2007 to 2010, managing a project in New Delhi that works with underprivileged children (Project Why).
