About Mehal Rathore

I am a vision scientist at OKKO Health, a digital health startup focussed on monitoring patients with vision loss at home through a smartphone app. My key responsibilities are research strategy development, clinical and regulatory validation for the US and UK, and successful patient integration. I am a writing up PhD candidate and Early Stage Researcher (ESR) at the Crabb lab at City, University of London. I'm a Marie-Curie fellow and was funded by the European Union under the OptiVisT program. The core of my thesis is around functional vision based diagnosis and management of age related eye conditions through home-monitoring. After my day job, I run Humans of Optometry (HOO), a blog that covers stories of optometrists and vision scientists across the globe. I am passionate about story-telling and use my blog as an opportunity to meet inspiring people.
