About Mehek Mathur

I am an early-career professional with experience in exploration geophysics, and primary and post-secondary education. My unique skillset as both a technical and an educational expert enables me to work closely with interdisciplinary geoscientists in enhancing the integration of geophysical data with geologic interpretations, leading to optimized outcomes in mineral exploration programs. I am a registered Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) with the Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Like many of my peers, my zealous curiosity for the geosciences began in childhood, when I was fascinated by the natural world around me (and maintained a sizeable collection of pet rocks). This, combined with my aptitude for physics and shaped by my innate sense of adventure, led me to discover my passion for exploration geophysics. While exploring this career path during my time at university, I also discovered my love for teaching and inquiry-based education in the geosciences. I have a strong foundational knowledge of geophysical surveying for mineral exploration, and have extensive experience in survey design, data acquisition, processing and quality control, modelling and inversions, and integrated interpretations of geophysical data with structural, geochemical, and lithological data. I am also a passionate and empathetic educator, experienced in working with all age groups in an effort to make the geosciences a more accessible field for all. My philosophy as an educator centers around the importance of adapting my teaching to best suit the needs of each of my students, a process which perfectly invokes my creative and adaptable nature. In my personal time, I enjoy reading fiction books, exploring the outdoors in my trusty hiking boots, and teaching myself to play the guitar.
