Who Moved My Cheese”… …a book that my grandfather gave to me my Freshman year of college, and something that’s been foundational in how I try to show up every day. It outlines a simple pattern of accepting change, becoming successful, being on the lookout for more change and then embracing it again - ultimately helping foster a more optimistic outlook on life. From the beginning of my career in healthcare software sales –making 100+ cold calls a day- to starting my own technology business (and everything in between), change is inevitable and there was a lesson to be learned each step of the way. Here’s 5 that have stuck with me: 1. “ABC” Always be communicating - Over communication is better than no communication 2. Give your customers more air time…(shut up and listen) 3. Professionals practice…(always) 4. It’s ok if you don’t know the answer (no one expects you to know everything) 5. Be a team player As a business owner, these lessons have been paramount for me. Why? Because technology is a crazy landscape these days (for buyers AND sellers)…it’s always changing and becoming more and more competitive. So, after years of being taught the importance of these lessons, I actively try to listen more to understand better, over communicate to ensure alignment, leverage my resources and be adaptable.
